Mark your calendars now for the Communities of Excellence Conference and Awards Gala, which will be held on May 15. The host hotel this year is the Bonaventure Resort & Spa in Weston, FL and the Conference will start at 1:00 p.m. with the Awards ceremony kicking off at 4:30 p.m.

This is the seventh year for Communities of Excellence, and each year many Florida communities are recognized for their innovative ideas and pursuit of excellence in bettering their communities. We have been privileged to be part of the program along with the professional teams at Becker & Poliakoff and The Pen Group since its inception. This year’s Gala will recognize the best of the best in community association living, so make your plans to attend. For a full schedule of events and to register to attend, please visit www.communitiesofexcellence.net and click on the “Conference and Gala” tab. Now that spring is right around the corner, many communities will be saying goodbye to some of their denizens who will be returning to their northern residences, where they can remain comfortable in milder temperatures. While they are away, managers will be busy with community improvement projects and cleaning up the community so that it is in pristine shape when the snowbirds return toward the end of this year. To see a tongue-in-cheek representation of what saying goodbye to one community’s snowbirds looks like, please turn to page 16 and read all about the Hurricane Winds Condominium Association. Joey Phelps, Graphic Designer and Illustrator, is the creator of this humorous strip.

As always, we would love to hear from you and are thankful for your faithful readership and support of FLCAJ.
