Journal Notes—September 2014

It’s September and that means that it is time for The Show in Orlando. FCAP and FLCAJ are excited about holding our second expo of the year at the Orlando World Center Marriott on Friday, September 26. The Show is Florida’s only statewide conference and expo completely dedicated to educating Florida’s community association professionals, which is only one of the reasons you should mark it on your calendar as a must-attend event.

Here are my top five ways you can benefit from attending The Show:

1.Education—Our exhibitors have supplied their best-practice tips, cautions, and cost–saving ideas for inclusion in The SourceBook: Program, Service Guide, and Reference Manual, and each attendee will be given a premium copy of this informative resource. And, of course, we will be offering CEU courses throughout the day.

2.Stay Up to Date—Through our exhibitors, you will gain knowledge and exposure to new trends, products, and resources that are available for the community association industry. If your association is planning any projects in the future or just thinking about changing certain service providers, The Show offers a wonderful opportunity to meet face-to-face with vendors who provide services for those needs. Plus, you can get answers to your questions right away.

3.Network—Meet other managers and board members from associations throughout the state and perhaps build new relationships with others who understand the ins and outs of running an association. There is no better teacher than experience, and these types of relationships can greatly benefit all involved.

4.Enjoyment—Why not grab your co-worker or other board members and have a fun day out together? This is one instance when pleasure and business can be combined. Plan on spending the whole day with us. Come in and grab your free tote bag and start filling it with all the free samples and treats that will be available, complete your CEUs, and take care of a little business also.

5.Meet the FCAP and FLCAJ Staff—We would love see to you in person and hear your input about FCAP and the Journal. (Okay, I know that actually benefits us more than you!)

On a personal note, I would like to extend my sympathy to the family of Gary Poliakoff. The Journal was very blessed to have him as a feature columnist, business associate, and friend for so many years.
