Journal Notes—December 2014

by Terry McMurry, Editor / Published December 2014

It is hard to believe that another year is coming to a close. It was this time last year, in the December issue, that I had the privilege to invite our readers to The Show in West Palm Beach, and I am happy to report that many of our readers came and experienced our inaugural statewide tradeshow first-hand! If, however, you missed your opportunity to attend, there is good news! On January 15, The Show: West Palm BeachEducation and Expo will be back at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. We plan to pack the day with CEU educational opportunities, board member training, and excellent advice and information from our exhibitors. Plus, we will wrap up the event with the official announcements of our second annual Readers’ Choice Awards winners.

These very important awards are presented to service providers who have demonstrated their commitment to the community association industry through exemplary service, reliability, and integrity. There are three levels of achievement—Diamond, Platinum, and Gold. The number of votes each business receives from our readers determines the winners. We know many of you have already established great relationships with service providers, as evidenced by the amazing response we had to our first Readers’ Choice Awards. So, please consider this a personal invitation to come meet the excellent people who represent these excellent companies.

On a personal note, I would like to announce that I have the opportunity to take an early retirement beginning in January. I want to thank our many readers, advertisers, and contributors for their support of FLCAJ during my time as editor over the past 11 years. Because of your support, the Journal has grown and become an excellent source of information for all aspects of community association management and living. Michael Hamline, who has been the managing editor for several years, will be taking on the editor’s position. He has great insight and understanding of the community association industry, and I am confident that he will do an excellent job!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the entire FLCAJ crew!
