Welcome, 2019! We kick off the year with the Salary & Information Survey. Now in its 30th year and 19th year since the original survey was expanded to include more than just manager salary and benefit information, there is much information to review and utilize in providing for those who make your community a place you enjoy living in. Of course, the most interesting (and important) statistic for managers deals with compensation. Manager salaries averaged $65,477 statewide for 2018. In addition, bonuses averaged $1,953.

In the article “What’s Next, Now That You’re on the Board” on page 6, there are 10 professional management companies and financial service providers who share helpful advice for new board members. There is much to learn for all who serve on their board of directors.

This issue also contains important articles on steps to take to efficiently settle an insurance claim and five critical questions to ask your roofer after a hurricane. Driver license scanning, non-compete agreements, and reserve studies are other topics addressed this month.

In Betsy Barbieux’s article on page 72 “Wisdom Through the Ages,” she shares “some of those words of wisdom handed down through the ages and how they might apply to us today.”

We are excited to see the calendar turn the page to 2019, and we look forward to speaking with you this year.
