Journal Notes—September 2015

by Michael Hamline, Editor / Published August 2015

One of the most elusive questions in the industry is, “What does the ‘average’ community association manager earn?” Looking at Florida as a whole, there is no “one-size-fits-all” answer. Without additional data—where are they, how large is their community, how long have they been there, etc.—it’s hard to pin it down.

For more than 20 years, we have
surveyed, counted, and reported the average salaries of CAMs across the state. We attempt to answer the question by regionalizing the data we receive, and further break it down using other criteria. We begin the survey in September, close it December 1, and feature it in the January issue, understandably our most read.

The thing we need from our readers is data. The more participation, the more accurate the data, so we are asking you to please go to www.fcapgroup.com/survey and help make this year’s survey the most complete information ever.

And while you are on our website, follow the link www.fcapgroup.com/nominate/Nominate_start.cfm to our Readers’ Choice Awards and nominate your favorite service provider or vote on them if they have already been nominated! This is a great opportunity to recognize businesses that you consider to be in the top-tier of their fields.

These very important awards, now in their third year, are presented to service providers who have demonstrated their commitment to the community association industry through exemplary service, reliability, and integrity. There are three levels of achievement—Diamond, Platinum, and Gold. The number of votes each business receives from our readers determines the winners. The winners will be announced in the March issue.

Finally, we want you to consider nominating your community for the eighth, annual, 2016 Communities of Excellence.  If your community is a standout in any of the designated categories, then we need to hear why your community should be chosen above the many other entrants. For more information on categories, how to enter, and when and where the Annual Gala will be held, check the website at www.communitiesofexcellence.net.
