Florida Community Association Professionals (FCAP) and Florida Community Association Journal (FLCAJ) staff have just returned from The Show: West Palm Beach Education and Expo. The Show was held on Thursday, January 15 from 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach.

According to our feedback, The Show was a resounding success and a great help to our attendees. One board member, Vivian, remarked on how this was an excellent show with wonderful vendors who were cooperative and informative. Another board member, Rosanna, pointed out that the exhibitors at The Show had been extremely helpful and informative. The uniqueness of The Show is the ability to bring together service providers who desire to work within the community association industry and introduce them to pre-qualified decision makers, board of directors, and association managers, who need their services.

A big part of what made The Show informative was the continuing education classes that were offered. Becker & Poliakoff presented the board member certification course while Stonegate Bank helped board members navigate bank loans and Asphalt Restoration Technology Systems presented important elements to a community’s asphalt maintenance program. In the late morning educational courses, SNAP Collections provided in-depth coverage on understanding the importance of collections and how to establish an effective collections program while Ball Janik LLP talked about owners’ rights and board’s responsibilities in regards to construction defects.

The high point of The Show was the presentation ceremony for the 2015 FLCAJ Readers’ Choice Awards. More than 45 service providers were recognized for their contributions to the industry. Be sure to look for the Reader’s Choice Extra that will be delivered with the April issue.

The Show was well worth the effort and time required. If you didn’t get to attend this year, FCAP and FLCAJ want to invite you to set aside time for The Show: West Palm Beach in January 2016 to network with industry experts, to be educated, and to go away with plans for improving your communities.
