The Show: Orlando, Education & Expo

The Show: Orlando premiered September 26 at the Orlando Marriott World Center Resort and brought together managers, board members, and service providers for a day of education, networking, and fun. “FCAP hosted a reception and invited our Orlando friends! It was a great experience, especially for our first Orlando Show,” says Jim McMurry, FCAP CEO.

Lisa Whitson, Director of FCAP Operations comments, “The relaxed atmosphere provided the perfect environment for networking. We had a jazz pianist and plenty of food, which always helps! Even on the rainy day, people showed up in a good mood ready to do business.”

September marked the last opportunity for man-agers to get their CEUs for 2014, and the training sessions were well-attended. Gary van der Laan with Leland Management led a room full of board members through Leland’s Board Member Certification class. Jane Bolin with PeytonBolin took an equally packed room through her class “Risk Management & Insurance: More than Just Buying Policies.”

Symbiont Service Corp presented their course “Swimming Pool Heating Methods.” Harry Carls and Robert Taylor representing Becker & Poliakoff taught “Covering your Assets: Avoiding Board Member Liability.” Finishing up the day, Mitch Drimmer of SNAP Collections presented his newly updated course “Effective Accounts Receivable and Collection Practices.”

The Show floor was open from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. where the exhibitors almost universally agreed that the quality of the attendees was outstanding. That is a testament to the wonderful readers of this magazine. We are grateful that you showed up!

Treva Phelps, FCAP Special Events Manager, sends this message: “I would like to personally thank all of our sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees for helping make The Show: Orlando such a successful event, and I am looking forward to The Show: West Palm Beach with great expectations that it will be a wonderful event to attend.”
